Back to School Dance!
Video: Swinging for Students!
This fall the Arthur Murray Ballroom Dance Studio of Palm Harbor will be hosting a Back-to-School Dance Party and Fundraiser. The event will benefit the third-grade class of Brittany Keslar at Sutherland Elementary School in Palm Harbor. Arthur Murray Palm Harbor will be adopting Keslar's Classroom through the program adoptaclassroom.org, an organization which increases opportunity for student success by empowering teachers with community partners and funds to purchase resources for the classroom.
Keslar hopes that the first step of implementing this teaching technique will be raising enough money for a digital camera and SD card for the classroom. The camera will be used to encourage students to look for math and science in the world around them.
Keslar bases her philosophy on the words of Clay P. Bedofrd: "You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives."
The Back to School Dance will take place Friday, August 30 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, 34930 U.S. Hwy. 19 N., Palm Harbor, FL 34684. The event is open to the public who will get a taste of this interactive teaching technique during the party which will feature a complimentary group class on the basics of Ballroom. Donations will be collected at the door, both monetary and in the form of school supplies to be used by the class. The event also boasts live entertainment by Paul Dowers and light refreshments.
Arthur Murray will offer a free 5-lesson Kids' Class Card to the first 25 children (aged 5-14) in attendance at the Back-to-School Party.
