Crisis Center of Tampa Bay

Pam Kelly is an employee of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, which brings help, hope and healing to people facing serious life challenges. When she?s not working at the Crisis Center, Pam serves as a nurse midwife with the University of South Florida. She is an active member in the America College of Nurse-Midwives and the International Association of Forensic Nurses, both on the local and national levels. She serves on the Advisory Committee of the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence, which determines the best practices for the state involving care of the victims of sexual assault. This month, November 2009, Pam was asked by FAVACA (Florida Association of Volunteers in Action in the Caribbean and Americas) to set up a Sexual Assault Response Team in Antigua. The week that she was there she trained 100 people: advocates, social workers, police, doctors and nurses to collect evidence for sexual assault to aid in prosecution. Working with the Directorate of Gender Affairs, Pam helped develop a crisis intervention training program and create a standardized kit for the collection of evidence. She plans to return to assist them with additional trainings.

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay brings help, hope and healing to people facing serious life challenges or trauma resulting from sexual assault or abuse, violence, financial distress, medical emergency, suicidal thoughts, emotional or situational problems.
